Google Webmaster Tools

Google Webmaster Tools is the closest thing you will find to a website M.O.T service. It's another free service provided by Google to its users, and we'd like to encourage all our site owners to use it.

You can find out more about it in this quick start guide.

The tools offered include a check for broken links, suggestions for page title and description information and basic statistics information.

Google Crawl Stats

Once you have access to Google Webmaster Tools, you can add to your site by following these steps:

  1. Click 'add site'

  2. Choose 'alternative method'

  3. Choose 'meta tag' and copy the code that is supplied

  4. Login to your PagePlay site

  5. Click 'Site' in the Toolbar

  6. Then choose 'Google Webmaster Tools' and save the code.

  7. Once saved you can then return to Webmaster Tools and click 'verify'

If you'd like to go a step further and submit a sitemap to Webmaster Tools, every PagePlay site has one which you can find by adding /sitemap.xml to your websites domain name.
